"DOGS GOT HER"
..yes, a zombie's writing skill is not the very best..

I was tempted at first to think he let her die so he could get that arm, but no. If he really wanted her for parts, he wouldn't have let the dogs get most of her. I think he really did want to save her, which makes this story really depressing.
On a side note, I notice the letters are cut off in a lot of the panels. You might want to check that out.

Actually, I thought it was kind of uplifting compared to most of the stories. This one doesn't really play as straight horror the way stories like FEAST and EYES do.

The letters getting cut off I hadn't noticed in the full-rez versions of the pages. I'll have to check if it's there or if it's something that happened when I reduced them for the site.

Admittedly, there is an uplifting aspect to it, but what makes it more depressing than FEAST or EYES is the girl feels like more than canon-fodder. His reaction to her death is more poignant because he really wasn't looking to harm her, even if he did end up using her arm.
I should specify that I like this story for that reason. It's even more tragic because something about her made me care and I empathize with him. Hence why I say it's more depressing that he didn't want her to die--it wouldn't be as sad if he'd been preying on her from the start.

I agree. Really, FEAST and EYES play more like traditional horror, while PARTS has more of a tragedy aspect. Also in the first two, the main character is actually the villain, so when they are destroyed it isn't really sad. (It's also why those stories don't feel like traditional horror stories -- most horror stories are from the point of view of the innocent person being stalked by the villain, not the point of view of the villain himself.) In PARTS the zombie has more of a heroic role, so his failure is more poignant. It made it a fun and different story to write, although it ended up taking a lot longer to figure out than some of the earlier stories. I'm glad you liked it!

A very moving story, I wasn't sure where this one would go up until the end.
I don't think I saw it hinted at in the comic, but do the parts change or affect the owner's personalities over time?

That's an interesting question. It doesn't come up in this story, but it's definitely a good idea for a zombie/Frankenstein story!
