I feel bad for him, but not too bad. He probably dodged a bullet there, to be honest, because she's not going to be able to pull a charade like this forever once people find out she knows nothing about business.

I live in Hollywood and it's amazing how many people do pull off charades. One of my favorite stories is about Steven Spielberg essentially faking his way onto a studio lot and just taking an empty office back when he was an up-and-comer. That's part of why he was attracted to the story of the imposter in CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.

This story, though, is really about relationships and how it's possible for two people to love each other but want different things out of their lives. Sometimes people can adjust and stay together, even become closer and stronger as a couple. Maybe there are stories like that in THE BOOK OF LIES. We'll have to see next Valentine's Day.

It's always sad when two people love each other but have such different lives and dreams that they can't make it work. Usually they don't have a whole other name and persona getting in the way, but there lies the clever fictional metaphor.

Apparently she forgot Buckaroo Banzai's words--"Wherever you go, there you are."
